Areas of Contribution in Mathematics:

  • Rate of Change
  • Discrete Functions

Contributions to Mathematics:

  • Fibonacci Sequence: starting with 0, 1 as your first two numbers in the sequence, you develop the next number of the sequence by adding the previous two together. For example: 0, 1, 0+1 = 1, 1+1 = 2, 1+2 = 3, 3+2 = 5 so it becomes: 0,1,1,2,3,5, ...
  • Fibonacci Numbers: numbers belonging to the Fibonacci sequence
  • Fibonacci Ratios: ratios related to the Fibonacci Numbers

History/Fun Facts:

  • Traveled a lot in his childhood
  • Learned several different mathematical systems originating from all over Europe, Africa, and Asia
  • Some of his works have been lost
  • Passed away in 1250
